This Saturday, thanks to our kind hearted and generous teachers we once again held a pancake breakfast at Applebee’s.   This activity serves not only to raise funds for our school but is also an amazing community builder!  The teachers love seeing the children outside of school and the children love gathering for such a fun time.  This year we were able to raise $651.00.  Thank you to everyone who participated!

Dear Summer Camp Parents,

Thank you for sharing your children this week with us here at Woods Creek Montessori Summer Camp!  During this week we learned about using nature in our art and had more fun stompin’ in the creek!    On Wednesday, Julie Woodzicka gave us a bonus swim lesson!  You can never have too many swim lessons!  Thanks Julie!!! On Friday, we had a field trip to Boxerwood to continue learning about art and nature.  We especially enjoyed learning about patterns in nature! April 24, 2010  6-8pm we will be holding our biennial fundraiser.  This traditional event will be held in the Kamen Gallery, Lenfest Center, Washington and Lee University this year.

Babysitting is provided by R.E. Lee Church youth group.

Babysitting will run from 5:45 – 8:15 p.m., with the following fees: $15 first child, $20 for two children, $25 for three or more children. All proceeds from the babysitting will go to Nets for Life

The following dates and times we will offer opportunities to learn about next year’s Kindergarten Program. 
 
On March 25th we will have a short Kindergarten play at 5pm.  (Catherine will be sending information to the parents of the children involved in the play.)  The children will then be taken to the Primary II classroom for a Pizza Party and Catherine will make a short Kindergarten presentation to interested parents.
 
On April 10 from 10am-12noon Nancy Smith will be presenting a parent workshop.  At the close of her workshop Catherine will offer a second opportunity to parents to learn about our Kindergarten program.
 
We hope you can find some time to join us, however, if neither of these dates work for you, please call the office and make an appointment.  We will be happy to speak with you on an individual basis.

We are excited to announce that Misty Camden will once again be our Summer Camp Director.  We hope you will come join us for another great year with her fabulous leadership!

 This summer Woods Creek Montessori is offering your child a chance to play and learn in a relaxed, fun, and caring environment  I believe that the quality of any program is built largely upon the quality of staff, and this year we have a fantastic staff lined up.  Paige Henson and Blythe Belmont, who currently hold afterschool positions, will be teaching the Pandas (4-8 year olds).  The Tigers( 2-3 year olds) will be taught by Ezra Belmont, who substitutes at WCM, and Jessi Gibbons who taught summer camp last year.   Kelly O’Connor, who currently teaches the Pre-Toddlers (Dragons), will continue teaching through the summer. The experience and dedication that our summer staff brings to WCM ensures a high quality summer. 

 In addition to our regular staff, each week there will be a guest teacher that will provide an enrichment class.  Laura Good, singer and songwriter, will offer music enrichment during the first week of Summer Camp.   Claudia Cutler, a trained Montessori teacher, will enrich the campers with her Art expertise and will guide them in exploring nature during 5 weeks of Summer Camp.  Dawn Antigua will be enriching a week of our program as well as Kitty Dean, a local dancer.   To enhance our program even further, on Wednesdays during the hot month of July we will offer pool time at the W&L pool that will include a swim lesson or games and free swim. If you choose for your child not to participate in swimming, an equally fun outdoor activity will be provided.   

We also have fun field trips planned, including:  the W&L Tea Room, Tong Dynasty for lunch, Sweet Things, Boxerwood, and Green in the Blue Ridge.  There will also be weekly walking field trips along Woods Creek Trail, and the campus of Washington & Lee University.                                                          CAMP  SCHEDULE

Annual WCM Potluck Supper

Please join us Tuesday, March 9, 5:30-7:30 for a winter gathering with friends new and old over delicious food! 

The event will be held at the Washington & Lee University Doremus gymnasium (directions are printed on the back of this flyer should you need them).

All parents, teachers, staff, board members, and their families are invited.

The parents will provide the food for the event.  To ensure a balanced selection, we ask you to please bring food according to your child’s classroom, as follows:

          Primary I parents:                    Main dish

          Primary II parents:                  Side dish – vegetable or starch

          Toddler parents:                       Dessert

Cake Walk

A great big THANK YOU to all that helped make the cake walk on Sunday a huge success!  We raised $1200 and had a fun time doing it!!
